Unarmed Security Training Class
This course provides the basic training required to perform as an unarmed security officer or guard in the security industry. The Unarmed officer class takes 20 hours to complete and is taught over a two-day period in person or online.
AGB is certified by the State of Illinois as a provider of security training in Chicago. The course meets and exceeds the requirements of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation as outlined in the Detective Act. Our trainers include former law enforcement officers, with experience at the federal level. The customized training that we offer equals what you’ll find at the largest national and international firms.
20-Hour Security Training covers all requirements necessary to work as a security guard in Illinois, including:

Requirements for AGB Employment Following Completion of the Unarmed Security Guard Training Class
In addition to a strong work ethic and good work record, all candidates must meet these minimum requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship or valid Green Card
- Live Scan fingerprints
- PERC card
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Drug screening and background check
- Strong communication skills, including spoken and written English
- Good personal grooming habits
- Have reliable transportation
- Honest and dependable
- Completion of security training - unarmed course
Class Outcomes – Training for Security (Unarmed) Class
This course will prepare students to meet the entry-level job requirements of an unarmed security officer. Students will receive training that includes the latest developments in the security field. Ultimately, students will be more marketable as they enter the security industry and begin their job search.

Illinois PERC Card | PERC Card Application
Completion of this security training enables graduates to apply for a Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC) through the Illinois Department of Finance and Professional Regulations (IDFPR). This certification may also be known as the Guard Card PERC or PERC Card Security. While the class is set up primarily for Illinois PERC card requirements, your instructor can advise you on other state PERC card application processes.
