Class Description - Concealed Carry Classes
The Illinois Concealed Carry class provides students with the detailed instruction needed to carry, care for, and use guns - specifically a concealed weapon. This course typically takes three days and requires 16 hours to complete. The class meets the training requirements necessary to apply for the Illinois Concealed Carry Permit.
The new mixed format concealed carry classes include online course work and in-person class hour at a certified gun range. For Illinois classes, the range time is currently located near Chicago North Shore. Please contact AGB Institute for information on range hours in states besides Illinois.
Training Course Outcomes – All Carry Class Formats
Concealed Carry Classes will instruct students on the types of situations in which it may be appropriate to use a handgun. Pistol, handgun, shotgun and ammunition nomenclature will be a focus of study in these classes as well. Students also will learn best practices for firearm safety, cleaning and maintenance during their class time. This course will bring students up to date on local, state and federal concealed carry laws.
This course will then use range class to teach the skills associated with properly loading, unloading, and shooting a handgun. These shooting techniques include proper breathing, isometric tension, and sight alignment. Finally, students will synthesize the skills they have learned with dry firing practice and logging training hours at the gun range.
Concealed Carry Permit/Concealed Carry License
Upon completion of the 16 hour concealed carry course, students will receive a certificate acknowledging that they have satisfied all of the required coursework to receive their Illinois Concealed Carry License. Instructors can help you with the application for your firearms card if it is out of the state of Illinois.

This course, as well as all AGB Institute classes, are taught by experienced AGB security professionals, including current and retired IL police officers at our state-of-the-art training center located at 7545 S. Western Ave. in Chicago. The Illinois concealed carry class and training qualifies students for a concealed carry permit within the state of IL.
